Primary 1d are artists!

These are just a few examples of the fabulous artwork we have been producing to decorate our classroom.

We all worked together to create our wonderful Elmer. We used circles and swirls to decorate the squares after looking at the work of the artist Kandinsky.

Our Elmer topic was fun but it also encouraged us to think about what makes us unique.

We painted some amazing self portraits.

We enjoyed a hands on approach to colour mixing.

As part of a European focus, we looked at some of the French impressionist,
Claude Monet's pictures.

We created our own version of his famous waterlillies.

We liked using our fingers to paint the water.

Our Friendly Class

Everyone in Room 4 knows that it is really important to be kind and helpful friends to each other as nobody would  want anyone to feel left out. We know that if we are unsure who to play with we can go to the buddy bench in the playground or tell one of the staff who will make sure there is always a friendly face to enjoy our breaks with.
We wanted to show our friends that we really appreciate them. Each boy or girl made a friendship bracelet for another child in the class.
We are happy to have lots fun with our friends.

Playground Shape Hunt

We had been learning about 2D shapes in class and decided that we would work in teams to see how many of the shapes we could find in our playground.

This was also a super chance for us to explore the areas of the playground used by the older children.

It was also lots of fun!

Our buddies

Our buddies have been a fantastic support to us, particularly when we first started school.

They took us on a tour of the school, helped us get used to the routines of the dinner hall, played with us in the playground, read us stories and are always so helpful and friendly.
